The Office of Undergraduate Admission's interview program offers optional interviews to freshman Restrictive Early Action and Regular Decision applicants attending high school in selected areas in the United States and around the world. Alumni who live in interview areas may become trained to serve as volunteer interviewers.
The purpose of the interview is twofold. Alumni will:
- Share their Stanford experiences and passion with prospective students; and
- Convey their impressions of these candidates to the admission committee.
A Stanford interview is designed to be a casual, comfortable conversation, and is optional for an applicant.
Volunteers reflect that speaking with applicants is inspiring and enjoyable.
Please take part in this important admission initiative by registering as a volunteer and completing the required interview training workshop.
The interview program is in the following areas and will expand further in California and internationally for future admission cycles.
United States and U.S. Territories
- All states (interviews are not offered in the following California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo)
- Puerto Rico
- U.S. Virgin Islands
- Washington D.C.
If the interview program is not yet offered where you live, there may be other volunteer admission activities in your area. We encourage all alumni interested in volunteering to register.
